I have always believed that some of the most interesting work begins when you stop worrying about whether it is going to work. Experimentation gives me permission to mess with things, change direction, try a different material, or simply follow an idea long enough to see where it leads. Some experiments become finished work. Others end up in the trash, which is also a perfectly legitimate destination. Either way, something is learned. A technique changes, a connection appears, a mistake becomes an opportunity, or an entirely new idea shows up where I wasn't expecting it. These experiments are the places where I get to play, take risks, and see what happens when imagination is given a little room to misbehave.
